Dypsis baronii a colourful, clumping palm, from Madagascar (home too many of the rarest and most unusual plants in the world). The Sugar Cane Palm is no exception, growing to a medium height of 10-15 feet and usually a clumping Variety with a bamboo look about them. Orange/red colouring at the base of new shoots rising to golden, lime green crownshafts, and finely cut, delicate, elegantly recurved leaves. A real landscaping beauty and a must have for every tropical or subtropical garden. These have proven to be mild frost tolerant when they get older. Dypsis baronii are equally at home in the shade or full sun but prefers a lightly shaded position in moist soil. Sugar Cane Palms make for an excellent specimen/feature plant, palm to line a driveway, palm to form a screen, or plant to provide a poolside tropical ambience.
